History of the Pryor K9 Unit
The Pryor Police Department has had 3 canine officers to date. This page highlights our current officers, Rambo and Ptl. Jeff Mitchell. Our previous canines were Farup (Sgt. Joe Garrett) and Bojar (Cpl. Doug Barham); each of these officers have met their individual shares of success. To read more about our previous canine units, please see our retired officers' page.

Ptl. Jeff Mitchell
Ptl. Jeff Mitchell has been a patrolman with the Pryor Police Department since 1998, and since 2008 has been a K9 Handler. Ptl. Mitchell and his partner Rambo have helped discover several pounds of various narcotics. Ensuring that these drugs do not find their way onto the streets is a high priority for this team.

Rambo
On August 6, 2008, Officer Jeff Mitchell and Rambo (A Belgian Malinois) became certified for our department, courtesy of the Tulsa Police Department.
Rambo has been instrumental in detecting narcotics that have led to dozens of arrests in Pryor as well as neighboring communities. Rambo has also helped lead officers to various drug labs around Green Country. While some people may see Police Canine units as another "tool of the trade," we at the Pryor Police Department see Rambo, just as we've seen past officers Bojar and Farup, as another officer in the department.
